Design Development Coordination For Structural Engineers
Developing complex designs can seem daunting even to the most talented structural engineers. Pinnacle’s team of veteran BIM personnel is proactive when it comes to interacting with structural engineers to understand their design intent. At Pinnacle, we offer value-added assistance at every stage as the design gets elevated from a schematic phase to the construction stage.
Why BIM Is So Important For Structural Engineers
BIM offers a 3D objects library of a physical building. BIM is necessary to construct a building virtually before the construction process begins. The most discussed advantages of BIM is any change to any certain elements in the model lead to automatic update all the views and details in the model. This feature of the BIM model makes it effortless to revise a structural design and to eliminate any possibilities of errors and clashes between structural elements with other building systems.
The future holds more challenges; the way construction industry is evolving and projects are getting designed, soon it would be really hard for structural engineers to keep up with the design demands if they don’t adapt Bim methodologies. BIM is emerging as an innovative way to deal with may such changes. Potential benefits of BIM is too evident to ignore anymore and increasing numbers of structural design professionals are adopting BIM methods already.

Stages Of Design Evolution At Pinnacle:
Schematic Design support
Schematic design is a primary design scheme which aims to define mainly the general scope of the project, including relationship and scale between different building systems. In this stage, we get a brief from the client in terms of integrated ideas and concepts about what a proposed system should look like. In this stage, models have been created to provide an overall suggestive idea of the area, height, volume, location, and orientation to start working on Project Phasing, Cost Estimation.
Detailed Design Support
Detailed Design phase comes just after the schematic design phase, where decisions taken in the schematic design phase are worked out in greater details. These details get reflected in the Revit model. In this phase, we are providing the clients with drafted to-scale drawings, illustrating how the project would look like after the construction is done. The model can be used to generate traditional construction documents and shop drawings which can be used for the analysis of clashes and cost.
Construction documentation is the final stage of the design evolution. In the construction documentation stage, models of different building systems get coordinated on a common data environment. This phase is the bridge between building design and physical building form. The model in this phase includes elements which are proper in terms of size, shape, location, quantity, and orientation with complete fabrication, assembly, and detailed information.
