The purpose of construction is demolishing a 40 year old Racquet Center and adjacent Tennis Courts for preparing a new tennis center along with the new courts near Douglas and East Fifth streets. State Building Commission members approved the development of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to proceed with the ambitious west campus project. The construction site would make use of the Vine and Houston streets, making a brief disruption Lot 35, which will be coordinated with Parking Services, Arena Staff and Athletics.
