  • Location:  Springfield, Massachusetts, USA
  • Execution Year:  2010

Brief Info

The new Springfield Regional Medical Center will be a 254- bed, 475,000-square-foot, full service medical facility, with all private rooms equipped with the most advanced technology. In November 2008, crews began blasting limestone to make way for the hospital’s foundation and basement. The blasted material, which when completed will total more than 60,000 cubic yards, will be used under asphalt for the hospital parking lots and access roads around the campus. There are currently more than 200 workers on site. This number is expected to grow to up to 350 by mid-2010. There are also a number of local businesses providing goods and services to the project each day.
