Brief Info

Kannur International Airport is an upcoming international airport located at Mattanur, approximately 25 kms from Kannur in Kerala. This airport is the second greenfield airport setup in the public private partnership (PPP) model in civil aviation infrastructure sector in Kerala. The airport will be built over 2000 acres of land and will have a single runway, to begin with. The airport is on a hillock so their major part is leveling the top and embanking it to create a tabletop airport. The cost of development of this project along with betterment of the access roads shall estimate to 31.99 billion. After the completion of this project, around 1.32 million international passengers are expected to use this airport; this figure is expected to shoot up to 2.94 million by 2021. It is expected that the flight operations shall commence by April 2016.
