El Paso Community College’s (EPCC) Rio Grande Campus, new Academic Classroom and Parking Garage Facility will consist of five levels of dedicated parking area, beginning at ground level. On top, there will be two stories of classrooms and laboratories. The campus will be of 105 feet with the inclusion of a penthouse structure at one corner on a total area of 288,290 square feet. Estimated Cost – Close to $25 millionPurpose of Construction – The El Paso Community College Board, keeping the future in mind, decided to make the campus much more comfortable with a keen focus on the development of the facility. The college handed the contract to the Parkhill Smith & Cooper (PSC) in collaboration with ECM International on the design of both Structural & Architectural trades. The project was announced by the EPCC board on Oct-2016 and as per further moves, the contract for the architectural designs was handed over to the Parkhill Smith & Cooper (PSC) and finalized by end of June-2017. As far as the Building Information Modeling is concerned, the creation of 2D rebar shop drawings was initiated on 10th of July’18 and within a short span of 3.5 months, the entire shop drawing creation of over 1000 Tonnes was completed with changes incorporated, approved by the Engineers of Record on 5th November’18.
