Brief Info

This prestigious and challenging project started in 2007 and is still in the process. This huge project entails construction of a new dam annexed to the old one. The objective of constructing a new dam adjacent to the old one is to moderate regulation of downstream flood protection and flow releases to sustain habitat. Another objective was to provide an additional 4500 acre-feet of water for graduated release and recharge downstream. Further, the project also requires creation of a sediment bypass to re-establish natural sediment transport according to the required specifications to decrease the scour potential of water released by the dam along with decreasing the sediment accumulation behind the dam. The additional objectives of this project are to maintain the dams’ long term storage capacity along with refurbishment of more natural hydro logic function.
