Pinnacle created the BIM models of New Orleans International Airport consisting of 2 Buildings – Terminal (3 floors spread over 5 zones) & Concourse (2 floors spread over 6 zones) for fabrication at Level of Development 400.

The models were used to produce shop drawings for construction and also to meet various objectives of the project viz. 3D coordination, clash mitigation, quantity take-offs, visualization and 4D capabilities for scheduling, phasing, sequencing and digital mock-ups. The BIM model of the New Orleans International Airport was divided into separate levels and zones for efficient working and coordination of various trades by concentrating on a particular location of the building. Moreover, the breakups helped to reduce the file size to handle and deliver the files smoothly, avoiding technical glitches.

Value Added

  • We resolved 1000+ clashes including 300+ critical clashes by resizing and rerouting of the services.
  • We participated in group coordination meetings every week using NAVIS software and repaired clashes and conflicts, incorporating RFI responses.
  • We filed and managed documents on a specified FTP site and provided a complete set of duct drawings including plans, sections and required details in AutoCAD .dwg format (using Autodesk Fabrication software).
  • We provided overhead duct plan drawings showing ducts with bottom elevation and dimensions from column lines and concrete pad layouts for mechanical equipment.
  • Ductwork mains were detailed in 3D and were connected directly to all required equipment including mechanical system room rough-in and equipment tie-ins and HVAC duct riser drawings (including typical rooms) and block-out drawings.
