Revit Families
Revit Families are pre-made, precision engineered reusable objects compiled with similar parameters and visual graphical representations that can be organized into the same class or group. These families are very useful for the firms who always search for custom or manufacturer specific content. Adopting the Revit platform allows these firms to fulfill their needs. Revit families not only contain physical representations of their products but also include specific identity and engineering data that are critical to the project.
For example, a Revit door family also offers a variety of sizes known as Types. Revit's door family template offers a starting point for creating a simplified series of door families for your company using a process called nesting. Revit Family produces schedules, determines LEED ratings, and specifies products from within your model
Revit Family includes content in 3D and 2D Revit, 3D dwg & 3 ds Max file formats. Pinnacle CAD provides you a high quality modeling service ensuring your Revit components are built intelligently with functionality in mind. Our fully parametric families contain information/performance models of the real world products needed to run calculation analyses and simulations. The software includes a large library of objects that can be modified in a number of ways. If needed, we can also build families from existing drawing files and manufacturers' cut sheets.
Revit utilizes parametrics to control objects through a series of formulas and input fields. We ensure that your products will be evaluated carefully and efficiently before modeling.
If components are over designed they can slow down your PC performance and productivity; if they are under designed they don't provide you with the functions you need. Finding a balance between practicality and functionality, we are ready to deliver a range of high quality Revit components for a fraction of the price of modeling. Family Types
There are two methods for creating families in Revit.
System Families
These consist of limited sets of types like walls, roofs, ceiling, stairs, railings, ramps, mullions, curtain panels and topography surfaces. Some predefined types are used for the creation of these families in the context of each project. These families also have various creation methods that are specific to the type of family. You can create new types of system families by duplicating existing types and editing their parameters.
System families are also used for many annotation categories such as sections, elevations, levels, grids, text and dimensions – they are not limited to model elements.
Standard Families
These are created outside of the project environment using the family editor. They are stored in an external library and can be loaded into a project at any point. Every standard family belongs to a specific Revit category so that when it's loaded into a project, it adopts the graphic rules defined for its category. This guaranties graphic consistency throughout your project.
This also guarantees that when you schedule a category you will get all elements that belong to that category. Standard families have their own file format extension (.rfa) and can be stored outside the project environment for later use in other projects.
Family Manager
Revit Family Manager is a tool runs as an application under Revit Architecture/MEP/Structural. It saves the users from time consuming searches. Users can quickly find requested elements and change parameter values.
All families, whether local or in the network, can be gathered and managed. Family Manager arranges all important information, the available family types as well as image viewer and 3D viewer for families converted into dwf files. Using double click, families can be opened for editing directly from the Family Manager or imported using drag and drop in actual projects.
