The institute is modeled after the famous Canadian Construction Documents Committee for structure. The mission of this institute is going to be facilitating co-ordinated utilization of BIM modeling for designing, construction and management for Canadian built environment.
The founding partners of the institute have prioritized different elements of propagation for before the institute becomes operational. These tools for propagation includes, practice manuals, awareness program, bibliography of relevant resources and a complete environment scan assessment for the use of building information modeling in Canada and around the world.
Canadian Construction Association or (CCA) is one of the founding partners of the new construct. The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies in Canada, Royal Architectural Institute Canada, and Construction Specifications in Canada are the other founding bodies. Two different government agencies the National Research Council Canada and Defence Construction Canada have also roped in for supporting the construction.
